INFLUENCES: Jeffu Warmouth

jeffu warmouth

Jeffu Warmouth is a man who has figured it all out. He is a former college professor of mine back when I was studying film and video. I'm not sure exactly how he has figured it all out, but he has. I remember having a long conversation with him at college about the merits of Blade Runner, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, and Philip K Dick and then realising that this guy is infinitely cooler than me. Not only does he have the virtuous job of teaching communications courses at Fitchburg State university, my alma mater, he's had his art screened internationally AND plays in his band the Ditch Mimes AND has wrestled with giant monsters AND has a wife AND has children AND owns a home. It just goes on and on with this guy. Do you do all these things? No, of course you don't. That's because Jeffu is infinitely cooler than you. We've been over this!

Jeffu's art is always humorous and thought provoking. He's at his best being absurd and playing the role of the jester. Don't underestimate the role of the jester! A jester gets to poke fun at the king, pointing out things that are wrong to everyone, and gets to live. Where would we be without the Jon Stewarts of the world? I like to laugh and think, don't you?

In the artists own words:

"For over two decades I have created media artwork that arises from an
absurd worldview. The work tends to be comical, ironic or ridiculous:
subverting language, skewering logic, or satirizing contemporary

Be prepared to laugh.

Right now he has his videos playing at Art on the Marquee in Boston:

Here's the schedule for those of you local to Boston:

So I salute you Jeffu Warmouth, you influence me. Thank you!
