Influences: MIKE DUBISCH

"That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." H. P. Lovecraft

Necronomicon by Mike Dubisch

Mike Dubisch is not human. He can't be. His artwork is From Beyond. It has been said that he can see into other dimensions. I agree with this theory. Dubisch's art and subject matter is pulled from pulp science-fiction, EC comics, Heavy Metal, fantasy art and horror fiction. He counts among his greatest influences fantasy and comics illustrators Frank Frazetta, Richard Corben, Bernie Wrightson, Moebius, Barry Windsor Smith, Wally Wood, Greg Irons and Alex NiƱo and Jack Kirby.  I'm fairly certain that they all  would be very proud.

Mike's  conjurings of high fantasy stands apart from many of the other artists, showing a graceful line, classical sensitivity, humanity and drama- while done with a contemporary edge. The amount of detail in his work especially impresses me. The images can be "busy", but the overall design, values, and colors tie it all together. The Devil is in the details! He strives in his work to put human into the inhuman- to render the unreal as real- to make a static image appear full of movement, and to render shadow as full of light. His art is usually created using mixed media; utilizing pencil, colored ink, gouache, and colored pencil.

Recently, Mike has developed a name for himself in the world of Cthulhu Mythos fandom, publishing his Cthulhu Mythos space fantasy Weirdling, a graphic novel collecting his independent comic-book, and releasing the limited edition collectible art-book The Black Velvet Necronomicon: Black Velvet Cthulhu.  http://www.amazon.com/Black-Velvet-Cthulhu/dp/B006TZBIYC

Strange Aeons magazine will be publishing his comic story "the Wet nurse" in the next few months.
He's working on a ZVR illustrated book: Zombies VS Robots Diplomacy.

I get boundless inspiration from this man and his fine, fine art. His talent truly boggles my mind. So I salute you Mike Dubisch, you influence me. Thank you.
